Plagiarism Policy
Academic integrity is paramount. GCIT-JFT adheres to strict anti-plagiarism standards:
- Definition: Plagiarism is the unattributed use of others’ words, ideas, or data. This includes direct copying, close paraphrasing without citation, and self-plagiarism (duplicate publication of one’s own work).
- Screening: All submissions undergo similarity checking (e.g. using iThenticate).
- Threshold: A similarity index of around 20% (excluding quotes and references) is used as a guideline. Submissions near or above this threshold will be examined. Minor overlap (e.g. standard method descriptions) may be allowed with proper citation. Extensive uncited overlap triggers further action.
- Outcomes:
- Minor Overlap: Authors may be asked to revise text (add citations, rephrase).
- Major Overlap: Manuscript will be returned or rejected.
- Detected After Publication: We will follow COPE/Nature Medicine guidelines; actions may include correction, retraction, and notifying the author’s institution
- Declaration: Authors must certify originality. A Plagiarism Declaration will be part of the submission. For example:
“We certify this manuscript is our original work. All sources are properly cited. This work has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal. We understand that GCIT-JFT uses plagiarism detection software and that any violations may lead to rejection or retraction.”
We reserve the right to reject any manuscript that violates these principles.
