Copyright Policy

GCIT-JFT publishes under flexible copyright models to accommodate authors' needs and open access. Key points:

  • Open Access (default): GCIT-JFT is fully open access. By default, authors retain copyright and grant the journal a license to publish under a Creative Commons (CC) license (typically CC BY). This means: the article is free to read, share, and reuse (with proper attribution). Authors choose or are assigned the CC BY license unless otherwise requested (see license table below).
  • Subscription/Traditional Model: Authors may opt (if allowed by the journal) for a subscription model. In that case, authors transfer copyright to the publisher via a License-to-Publish agreement. The publisher then has exclusive rights to publish. However, authors retain the right to use their own work for non-commercial scholarly purposes (e.g. teaching, future research, sharing accepted manuscript) and to self-archive under certain conditions.

Authors’ Rights: Even when copyright is transferred, authors keep key rights: to use their work in future publications, to share copies of their work for teaching and research, and to post the accepted manuscript (see Green Open Access). GCIT-JFT will publish a summary of author rights on the website.

Third-Party Material: Authors must obtain permission for any third-party copyrighted content (e.g. figures, tables, large text excerpts) used in the manuscript. Provide evidence of permission or indicate that the material is in the public domain. If needed, adapt figures rather than copying them, and cite the source.

Copyright/License Agreement: Upon acceptance, authors will sign a form. Example wording:
“I/We hereby grant GCIT-JFT an exclusive license to publish the above-mentioned manuscript. I/We confirm that the work is original, not previously published, and that permission has been obtained for any third-party material. I/We retain the right to use the article in future non-commercial works and to share the accepted manuscript in institutional repositories as allowed.”

The final publication will include a copyright or license statement (e.g. “© [Year] The Authors. Licensed under CC BY…” for open access).
